TAKE THE KING'S SHILLING!
Text Box: Advantages of Reenacting With Us

Affordability - There’s no need to spend thousands getting yourself outfitted when you can join tomorrow and be provided everything you need for FREE! The Lobsterback Society has eliminated the need to purchase uniforms and equipment, and there are NO DUES OR ENTRY FEES. All members pay a modest amount ($15-25) for each event they attend to cover the cost of food and ammunition consumed. That’s all!

Leadership – The LS eliminated petty intra-unit conflicts by creating a centralized military-style leadership to enforce approved written policies and procedures, which govern member participation within the unit. We encourage the development of leadership skills in all our members by rotating military rank for each event, based solely upon ability. Every member, regardless of time in the hobby, has the opportunity to prove themselves and ascend to command rank.

Discipline – We do more than just “burn powder” at battle events. We train our members like the 18th century warriors that we portray. In the field we operate like a true military unit. We hold frequent formations, post sentries in camp, strictly obey our chain of command, drill constantly, and train to maximize our proficiency with period weapons. Each of our members is a trained marksman and is given the opportunity to qualify annually with the sea-service muskets at live-fire shooting events.

Fun & Education – This is the critical element of our recruiting success! How can we expect our members to participate if events are not fun and rewarding? Why should spectators attend living history events if they get nothing out of it? Living history is not about the uniform; it is not about guns. It is about the PUBLIC! LS members are in the hobby to have fun, while educating and entertaining the spectators. We put the “ACT” back in reenACTing. We constantly work to make our events interesting and unique in ways that maximize interaction with the public (especially kids) to generate interest for the hobby and educate them about life in 18th century America.
