Text Box: Knapsack Marines carried painted canvas knapsacks painted with yellow ochre – a color standardized throughout the Royal Navy for painting the sides and interiors of their ships. It was also the original color of the marines’ coats to differentiate them from the army. Our packs also bear the ubiquitous crown and “GR” standing for George Rex (King George in Latin) so there is no doubt that we are true ‘Lobsterbacks.’
