TAKE THE KING'S SHILLING!
Text Box: Proditores Sugunt!

Our crest is a playful adaptation of a typical British regimental crest. It is not a historical symbol, but it combines several elements common to the heraldry used in the Revolutionary War period.

The LS monogram in the center is our official cipher, and appears on official documents and most organizational property. The colors of the letters and background of the cipher represent our coats, which are red with white facings, as seen on the left of each page of this site.

The garter around the perimeter is white, like the leather accoutrements we wear, and trimmed in silver, the color of our uniform buttons and officers’ epaulets, hat trim, buttons and gorgets.

The Latin motto PRODITORES SUGUNT on the garter is loosely translated as “treason sucks” and is representative of our mission to make participation as fun for our members as interaction is for the public.

But the sarcasm doesn't exactly stop with our crest.  Even our name, Lobsterbacks, is a term which was only coined after the revolution by American writers.  The term seemed most appropriate since we are (most of us) Americans portraying one of our nation’s greatest opponents.  For more information on why British soldiers in the American Revolution weren’t called lobsterbacks click here.
